RIDE REPORT

It was getting to 11am and we were still waiting for the fourth crew to arrive at Salim's house, so far we had three trailers and seven bikes on board, and I was getting a little anxious to get going. The 4Runner was all geared up and ready to go, then finally we had a full house, fourth crew arrived just after 11am and we were all set to go, four cars and nine bikes.

After 1 hr on the highway (with my 4Runner struggling along) we arrived at the Bargo State Recreation Area. The entrance off Wilson Drive. After we unloaded all the bikes and were geared up, it was around 1pm and a glorious day of riding was ahead. We headed down some really rocky inclines before we reached a fire trail, which is also used by 4X4 vehicles.

This is pretty much the soft of terrain you would encounter while riding thorugh Bargo State Rec. Area, keeping in mind this place is BIG! we would have only covered 5% of the area in 4Hrs of riding, at a relaxed pace mind you.

One rider we encounted told us that we could ride 6hrs South-West and still keep going. Just goes to show
how large this area actually is. As I mentioned in the caption above, we had only approx. covered 5% of the
total area. I think a re-visit to this area with more time is definitely the go.

Some great views from one of the higher peaks we had reached. Only 25Kms into the ride, it was a great chance for a photo with me in the middle (obviously) and my two little buddies Aaron on the left and Gorkan on the right.

One of more interesting spots we had reached, on our return back to the cars. The terrain here was almost like a tropical forrest, with winding, rocky and narrow trails.

CONCLUSION

This is a great place to explore with loads of space and varying terrain. It is also a great place to go 4 wheel
driving too. Some of the rocky sections can get a little tricky, as I found out the hard way.
One must also watch out for 4 wheel drivers, as I also almost found out the hard way, while zooming down
a long stretch, then slowing down for the corner, I met a 4WD head-on, luckily I slowed down enough to
avoid a date with a bull bar. Getting back to the cars and munching out on some serious tucker was a great
relief, I was really starving. All in all a great days ride, but another trip is definitely on the cards.
